The Miller Group Canada: Highway 69 Resurfacing
Highway construction photography for remote northern infrastructure projects demands extensive travel, careful advance planning, and absolute self-reliance in the field. For this major project with The Miller Group Canada, my assignment was to document the Highway 69 resurfacing operations deep in the rural reaches of Northern Ontario.
Spanning long-distance travel and demanding multi-day schedules, the production required coordinating closely with project teams while adapting to active work zones along miles of remote highway. Utilizing a combination of ground-based stills and aerial drone documentation, the goal was to capture the scale of heavy machinery, asphalt crews, and large-scale industrial progress taking place far from urban centers. You can explore more examples of this work in my dedicated industrial photography portfolio.
Northern Infrastructure Documentation Scope:
Executing comprehensive highway construction photography across isolated northern corridors requires a meticulous operational workflow. My production scope for The Miller Group Canada included:
-
Long-Distance Travel Logistics: Planning and executing extended driving routes into remote Northern Ontario work zones while managing variable weather and lighting conditions.
-
Aerial Drone Cinematography: Piloting specialized drone systems to capture sweeping overhead perspectives of active paving spreads, milling equipment, and traffic management layouts.
-
Ground-Based Industrial Stills: Documenting close-up operational details, heavy machinery operators, and specialized resurfacing equipment in action.
-
Corporate Asset Delivery: Supplying high-resolution visual archives tailored for Miller Group’s internal communications, safety presentations, and public marketing initiatives.
Documenting heavy civil engineering and large-scale infrastructure requires a photographer who understands industrial environments and safety protocols. Are you planning a remote infrastructure project or highway expansion in Ontario? Contact me to discuss your documentation requirements.
