Destination Wedding Bells: Chris & Kristy in Negril, Jamaica
A wedding day is a couple’s most important day, and so it was an honor to be flown down to Jamaica to capture this beautiful couple’s destination wedding in beautiful Negril.
I’ve known Chris for the better part of a decade from the days when he used to be a jungle DJ and a part of WestEnd Productions and I was throwing events in Toronto as well and doing my MC’ing thing, so when he asked me if I would be interested in shooting their wedding at the Riu Negril I said yes without any hesitation.

The trip was one I will never forget. The weather when we first flew in was pretty rainy which the locals had said was unusual, however I had hung out with one of the local fishermen on the beach the day before the wedding and he’d assured me that the new moon that evening would not only mean it was great for crab fishing, but that it would be great for the weather on the day of the wedding and the sun would shine. Well, that man was right on the money! The day of the wedding the sun was shining, it was a chilly +41 degrees Celsius on the beach, and both the crisis of not having a black tie for the groom and one of the groomsmen buying a dress shirt without a collar had been averted. It only began to rain just as we had wrapped the family portraits and were headed to shoot the couples photos, however that only proved to enhance the feel of the images. Before dinner the skies cleared up and provided us with a beautiful Jamaican sunset backdrop which was perfect for one last minute photo op with the couple on the beach, truly one of my favorite shots of the trip.

I did however have a situation where on my 3rd last day I had come back to my room only to find somebody had tried to force their way in and break the deadbolt out of my door. More than a little unsettling to say the least. I’ll save that story for another post. With that said here are some pics from the wedding!
