Lighting up the night with Damien Flame
Caught up with Toronto Fire Performer and good friend, Damien Flame, for a shoot.
Initially the plan was to go out and capture shots of the full blood moon AND lunar eclipse that we were supposed to be able to see over Toronto that evening, however, the weather didn’t want to co-operate at all and so since the forecast called for cloudy skies that would block our view I decided to turn the Plan A of shooting the eclipse into the Plan B and called up my friend Damien to light up the night.
If fire on it’s own wasn’t enough of a challenge to shoot, try adding in a model, movement, at night, and with varying degree of lighting which can go from an ambient candle light level to gigantic flames that will blow out every frame you try and capture in the blink of an eye if you aren’t set up for exposure properly. Thankfully with Damien Flame‘s patience and the constant back and forth volley of “Perfect! what you shooting at? try these settings!” between John of Insight Imaging and myself we managed to come out with some really great shots. Many thanks to Damien for bringing out his bag of fire tricks for an awesome light show.
Certainly a challenge, but who doesn’t like a good challenge? I know I love them.
