Live at The Opera House: Kalush Orchestra

When an act like Kalush Orchestra takes the stage, the energy is immediate. Back in 2022 I photographed the newly-crowned Ukrainian Eurovision winners during their first performance in Canada, the Toronto tour stop at the historic Opera House, and the visual dynamic of the night was something else.

Kalush Orchestra is known for seamlessly fusing traditional Ukrainian folklore with contemporary hip-hop, resulting in a unique sound and stage presence that is vibrant, high-contrast, and deeply expressive. From their intricate, signature costuming to the raw emotional weight of their performance, the ensemble offers an incredible subject for live music photography (something I truly love doing).
